Hello all,

It is getting pretty late in the waiting process, and I was hoping to receive some advice from you all. I applied to two schools, Pitt and CMU, for electrical engineering PhDs (I also applied for a Masters at CMU) for Fall 2018. I was planning to specialize in machine learning with applications in biometrics. It is now pretty late and I have not received any correspondence from either of the schools. At this point, I am sure that I was or am going to be rejected, but that is not eating me up too badly because I was not sure how much I wanted to do biometrics anyway. I am just really curious at this point. Shouldn't I have received a rejection or something by now? Would it be a good idea to reach out to them and check the status? Please let me know when you can.

Yes, you can reach out to them but my guess would be that there would be  a generic reply like " under review" or " results will be out soon". But I would still encourage you to email them. There are a lot of PhD programs that have not sent out acceptances yet, so don't panic yet. You could be wait-listed. It's not over till it's over.

Okay, I will do so. Thank you for the advice.
