Kathryn Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has received any money offers in the form of a fellowship or assistantship. I applied for a master's program and have not heard any word on money yet. When would you think I should expect hearing about money and when is it ok to ask if they've offered money yet?
Reynolds Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 It's my understanding that they usually give fellowships/assistantships to PhD applicants. A lot of the time, you can apply for a PhD, go through the first two years and leave with a masters having gotten paid for it. That said, the one PhD program I've gotten into so far offered me a graduate teaching assistant position for which they're going to pay me, should I go there.
Kathryn Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Well, I am aware that you can get money for master's too. One of my programs only offers a master's and they still give assistantships.
ebaronov Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 You should ask them about that. Funding is crucial when deciding between programs so I think it is ok to ask. The deadline to response to offer of financial aid, as you probably know is april 15th so you will definitely know in a couple of weeks.
