ecg1810 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 My friend once mentioned that it's possible to skip the AW section on a GRE retake without penalty (assuming you've taken the AW before and have scored to your liking, so adcoms have something to evaluate). You simply move on to the next section, and "NS" (no score) shows up on your score report. Is this true? Good/bad idea?
ebaronov Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 It is possible to skip it. Just click 'Next' after the section starts. You will have empty essay and will get 'NS' (or 0 I am not sure). I don't think it is a good idea to do that. You don't know how adcomms evaluate multiple GRE scores, it is possible that they consider maximum in each section but it is also possible that they look at the average. In any case I don't think they will like the NS.
