youngqueerliving Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 I now most of us are still in the midst of the application process, but I've been accepted to one program (I'm going to grad school!) and so I'm just wondering if there are many resources (favorite books and/or articles) that speak to the experience of actually being in grad school. I have Mitch Prinstein's Portable Mentor but that doesn't address all of the specifics of grad school. Do folks have any recommendations? Thanks!

I know this is most likely kind of a stupid suggestion, but if you know any grad students through a lab or any other sort of affiliation, that can be a great way to get information from someone who is currently experiencing it. I know that I lean on my grad students in my current research lab as far as what to expect and their experiences and they even lean on me sometimes. If that is something that you can do then I think it is another form of support that can help you prepare for grad school and who knows, maybe you will keep in touch with them and they will help you survive grad school as well!
