stats4life Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Hi all, I'm currently in the process of drafting my statement of purpose for the various Statistics MS programs I'll be applying to this year, most of which are theoretically oriented, but terminal, programs. My ultimate goal, however, is to pursue a PhD in Statistics, with the Master's degree serving as a stepping stone that would hopefully allow me to gain research experience/prove myself in graduate-level coursework. Is it alright to mention these future PhD/research aspirations among my motivations for applying in my SOP? I'm unsure whether it's advisable or not to state it explicitly... Thanks!
user409187212 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) Actually I am not aware of the importance of SOP on Stat MS admissions but I got admitted to one of top programs, mentioning on my SOP that I would like to pursue PhD upon completion of my MS. bayessays Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Yeah, as long as you don't say that you want to become a drug dealer after you should probably be fine. Statboy and theduckster 2
