I applied and have not received anything. If we have not gotten any invitations for interviews at this point, we are likely to be no longer considered..

Do you know someone who has already received an invitation? First contact dates can vary a lot between years. But yes, my hopes are getting lower each day. Which research themes are you interested in?

Nope. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who applied to the program. That’s true about first contact dates but this is my second attempt, so I have kind of ran out of hope

I am interested in reinforcement learning, particular the work from Prof. Wulfram Gerstner’s lab. What about you?

I have not heard anything either. I emailed them to see if there's any update but no response yet.

I am pretty sure they don’t reply to request for updates unfortunately..

How funny! I am just the same. Second attempt as well and also for prof Wulfram Gerstner.

omg what are the odds ? Do you have a neuroscience background? I don't really have a computational neuroscience background, just really fascinated by his work in RL (I only put him in the preferred prof section, which may have limited my odds)

Kind of. But I am not interested only in RL. I only put him as well xD maybe we can talk more privately

I did my interview today, but I think it was not that good

what do you think about my chances???

That's impossible to know. But it's good that you got an interview! May I ask in which lab? When did they make the first contact?

LSIR lab, they contacted me on Tuesday.

By the way, I haven't applied for this lab, and do you think we will do more than one interview, I mean with multiple labs,

or it is just a one-time thing and then you'll be accepted or rejected??

I haven't received anything just yet. The website confirms the decision acceptance as being communicated around 1st March to all applicants by e-mail.

I'm honestly starting to lose hope. Does anyone know whether an interview is required before being accepted? I mean, if I haven't received an interview

invitation, does that mean I don't have any chance of being accepted?

Unfortunately, without an interview, it is almost certain that you won't get accepted (someone asked a similar question on quora). Basically, after screening, the labs would normally schedule their own interviews during the interview period, and choose among the interviewees

Thanks for the heads-up. That's what I figured too, although I've read in a different thread here that in the past years people were accepted without an interview too.

Anyway, whatever the outcome, I wish you guys a great experience ?.

It's that possible! And, how was the interview? Would you share some about the questions or any suggestions?

I haven't heard anything from them either.  I feel like we should lose hope by now. Is there anyone who got a response from the Algorithms&Theory group?

I applied for the Security & Cryptography lab. But I guess you're right, I don't see how anyone would be accepted without having set up an interview first.

Good luck on the interview! I think it largely depends on the lab and on the different projects they have. Multiple interviews are actually normal and a good sign that they're actually interested in having you work on the project.

Let us know how it goes!

I got my rejection email today. I don't know if specifying is against the rule, but I hope I can help others for later years.

I applied for Artificial Intelligence, Image Processing, Graph & Visualization as my three choices (in that same order), with no professor preference.

The email said that I'm shortlisted as one in the top 15% from 2500 applications for acceptance, and that it means my profile is well matched for the level of EPFL PhD program (I don't know if everyone gets the same thing), but as they can only pick the top 2%, I was not admitted.

I wish the best summer to all qualified applicants and also for those who apply next year (or the years to come). This is probably my last chance as I am in the next to last summer of university.

I got a similar email today as well. Top 15% again, since I had already received a similar email last year.

Same here, top 15% but it's my first year applying.
