NoahC Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Hello, all! I wanted to get opinions on the best linguistics PhD programs that have a strong focus on historical linguistics, specifically Indo-European linguistics. The program that seems like the best fit so far (UCLA's IES program https://pies.ucla.edu/) appears to be the only one of its kind. What are other examples of top-tier PhD programs in linguistics that have faculty with research interests/who teach courses on historical and Indo-European linguistics? Thanks!
accidental_philologist Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Not sure if they are the best programs for IE, but some other programs that let you specialize in IE within a linguistics department are Harvard, UPenn (I think? They have at least quite a few faculty members), and Oxford (track C in the Linguistics, Philology, and Phonetics faculty).
