Deciding Between Assistantships

I have been interviewed for two assistantships at my grad program. I liked both, but am leaning toward one. Issue is, I have only been offered a position in the one I did not like as much. How do I stall the one lab while waiting to find out from the one I liked better while not losing both? A good problem but challenging!

Reach out to PI in the lab you prefer and explain that you got assistantship for the other lab. State that, while you are happy with that one, you would prefer to work with them and if you are still being considered.
