nervousnance Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Hi all! I took the GRE before I started my masters program back in 2017 and this past September 2019 and received the following scores: 2017: Verbal: 156 73% Quant: 155 56% Writing: 5.0 92% 2019: Verbal: 162 90% Quant: 154 53% Writing: 4.5 81% Do you think I should send both since I performed better on writing and slightly better on quant in 2017? Or will it look bad that I went down in those areas in the past two years? Thanks so much! Best of luck to everyone this cycle!!
devpsych2020 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 Personally, I think there is no harm going with the second score. Especially if you have a good writing sample to submit or some publications?
CowpokeMT Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 If I were you I would be sending the 2019 score. You scored pretty much the same on quant, but significantly better on verbal. In most of the research on GRE scores and grad school admission, the findings indicate that the admission committee do not consider AW as much as the other two scores. Also, an AW score of 4.5 at the 81st percentile is already quite competitive.
nervousnance Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 Thanks all! This is helpful. I think I'll just send my most recent score as the difference between quants is pretty negligible.
