Anyone hear back on waitlist offers yet?

Nope. NSERC's new fiscal year just started this month, ending March 2021, so it's a pretty big window of time haha. Best of luck all!

I'm waitlisted in committee 169. When I emailed NSERC for more info, they said that waitlist results will start to be sent out in April. If anyone gets off the waitlist, could you please post that here?

Good luck to all other waitlisted peeps!

I'm also waitlisted for 169 (14/31). Any chance you'd be willing share your ranking? I'm really curious about where the cutoff might be. Good luck!!

I'm 16/31. Good luck to you too! Nice to see the one-time-only rule for applications has changed (in case the waitlist doesn't move far enough!)

Found these stats for 2020 NSERC postgrad and postdoc offers:

https://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/_doc/Students-Etudiants/2020StatsScholarships_e.pdf

Success rates were only ~25% this year in each category, but hopefully some of you are near the cut-off and will get waitlist offers soon. I'll be re-applying this fall and hoping for better results ?

Good find! I was checking here and hadn't seen any results posted yet.

That's a pretty steep drop in the success rate compared to the past 5 years (which averaged 33%). Not only that, but when considering the total value of the offered awards it looks like the budget was nearly cut in half. Has there been any communication about the actual budget for awards this year, perhaps impacted due to COVID?

Anybody else get the e-mail today about access to "Extranet for NSERC Competition Results"? It's empty for now, but I'm thinking that this will replace the typical letter mail results notification.

Hi. I applied for the NSERC PDF competition this year and did not receive this email yet. If you do not mind me asking, what did the email say? Are the results available?

Thanks so much for sharing. Looks like the results will be accessible online this time. Better than waiting for the mail.

Good luck!

Looks like the Extranet access was to pre-empt some good news: I received an alternate award offer from the waitlist of the previous year (2020) competition :)

That's awesome. Many congratulations! :)

Just curious, did you applied in Fall 2019 and got shortlisted in Winter 2020? Did you apply again in Fall 2020 to receive this alternate award?

I applied Fall 2019, got alternate shortlisted Jan/Feb 2020, then received notice that I was offered the alternate award off the shortlist earlier this month Jan 2021 (which I accepted by the deadline, yesterday, to start in Mar 2021). I also applied for the current competition in Fall 2020 since they lifted the once-per-lifetime application limit and I was still on the shortlist from the prior year. I just received notice yesterday (after accepting the previous offer) that I was offered an award this year as well. Apparently this can extend the eligible start date of the award up to Jan 2022, but I'm waiting to hear back from NSERC on how that'll work. Still waiting on word for the Banting too, which would result in me declining the NSERC PDF.

Thank you so much for your response. I got shortlisted this year, so I guess even if I don't get off the shortlist later this spring I might have a chance next year if I applied again. Did you completely rewrote your proposal or did you just make some minor changes so it is up to date? I hope you get the Banting!

I hope you get an offer from the shortlist :) As for my proposal, I did a pretty extensive re-write

I am waitlisted in committee 194 my rank (22/85).  If anyone gets off the waitlist (NSERC PDF), could you please post that here?

I am also waitlisted in committee 194 my rank is 16. I will let you know if I get off the waitlist.
