CMC1234 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 I will be interviewing at Rutgers in 2 weeks for a spot in their Clinical Psychology PsyD program. I have NO IDEA what to expect as I do not really know anyone who has pursued a PsyD or went through the interview process. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Specific tips to Rutger's interview would be wonderful!! I have a decent sized list of questions to ask current students and faculty. What type of questions should I prepare to answer? What were some difficult questions you were asked in your interview? How much should i prepare to speak about my research experience vs clinical experiences? Any insight into what the interview day may consist of? (group sessions, info sessions, one-to-one interviews) What should I wear? I was leaning towards a woman's suit. Thank you in advance!
PsyDuck90 Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Check out the "Interview Tips" thread on here as most of your questions can be answered there. While I didn't interview at Rutgers, I am at a PsyD with a similar research emphasis. Make sure you are equally prepared to speak about both research and clinical experience, as well as what your goals are post graduation. I was also asked why PsyD (versus a balanced PhD since most go into clinical practice). Also, why Rutgers? Make sure you can speak to your professional goals and how this program in particular is a good fit for you. Also, yes, wear a full suit (whether it's a skirt or pants is up to you).
