Hi everyone! I was waitlisted and was wondering how long it could possibly take to be taken off the waitlist, what the process is to get off a waitlist (e.g., Does someone have to reject an acceptance to get off/or reject the waitlist to move up?) If anyone has any insight into the waitlist process, that would be greatly appreciated!

I was waitlisted at Teachers College and it is on a rolling basis.

Most schools let students know after April 15th. Every school does it differently, but usually acceptances for those on the waitlist go out once a month until the cohort is filled. It could also be rolling too, I've just heard about rounds not rolling. Most schools are pretty private and won't tell you where you are, but Indiana State has a list online (still not uploaded yet). Whoever rejects an acceptance the spot goes to someone on the waitlist. For ranked waitlists people do move up when a waitlist is rejected for unranked I don't think so but it betters the chance since less people are on the waitlist now.

I think it depends on the school.  I was waitlisted at Towson University on a Friday and three days later on that next Monday I was taken off the waitlist.  I am not sure where on the waitlist I was because we did not receive that information but my advice is to stay patient because they told me I wouldn't know until after April 15th through July and  of course that was not the case.

Good luck!

Thank you both for your responses, they were very helpful! I actually reached out to Teachers College admissions's director for speech and here was the response:

The waitlist operates on a rolling basis meaning that as the program settles around their enrollment numbers, they will be able to assess how many students they may be able to take from the waitlist. We should have our first idea about this after the deposit deadline passes in Mid April.

For all those waiting to hear back about the waitlist, hope this helps!
