potential_statistics
I'm really have some trouble deciding what to do with my life. I'm 85% chance leaning towards CMU Statistics, can anyone help me affirm or deny this decision?
captivatingCA
If you're 85% sure already, go for it! CMU has a great department, so no need to second guess your decision.
bayessays
Agreed with above. Unless there's a person you particularly want to work with at another top department, CMU is great. Lots of great ML and applied work, as well as some just absolutely top statisticians like Wasserman, Kass, Shalizi and others. Another pro is that CMU is one of the best value programs since they give you a big stipend in a relatively cheap location.
MathStat
what is the other option (15%)?
distopianmathgirl
I think it would help to know what you're interested in, what schools you're deciding between, and what factors are most important to you in your decision making process. (Might be biased since I accepted my offer to join their department in Fall)
