MS or MPH?

Hello all! I'm an undergrad interested in pursuing a graduate degree in Biostatistics but I'm unsure if I should apply for MS or MPH programs. At this point, I'm planning to pursue a PhD afterward getting my master's and am wondering if I'll be at a disadvantage if I get an MPH. I know that an MS will better help prepare me for a PhD because it'll be more research-oriented than an MPH, but does it really make a big difference to admission committees?
