How do I stand out on med school applications?

I am an aspiring med school student in undergrad and desperate to find a project, subject, or really anything that will increase my chances of entering a med school while at the same time broadening my experience. Currently, I am at a point where I know what I need but no clue how to go about it. Has anyone been through the application process for med school, and, if so, what did you do that allowed you to stand out to your school? Do you have any advice for me on how to find a useful passion project and how to accomplish it?
