Contact potential advisors right before deadline?

I'm curious if contacting potential advisors 2 weeks before deadline is a minus..... It certainly will not do me any good, but I just want to know if this is a very unprecedented and rude behavior. 

Please share with your previous experiences or any thoughts you may have on this!

Different PI will have different reaction. There is not a "normal" reaction to this. I would suggest sending 1-2 emails and see the type of reply you get. Dont forget, its holliday season, so dont expect replies. It has been a long year so people are probably going to try to enjoy family time and prepare for post-covid time. Good luck!
