Hi, looking to connect with others who have applied to SJSU MSW Fall 2021. I submitted my application a few weeks before the deadline of Dec 1st and now anxiously waiting. Anyone heard anything back yet?

Hi! I applied for the two year program for this fall! I'm so excited, but nervous of course -- I came from a tough undergrad program so my GPA isn't as high as it should be and it also swallowed up some of the time I'd use for more direct experience!! I started undergrad late though, so I wanted to get going on graduate school ASAP! :)  I'm waiting on one professor to submit my third recommendation, and getting his last one in on time is my main nailbiting..

Hi al127, great to meet another fellow applicant. I’m right there with you on the GPA concern. Though I did very well in my SW classes, math really brought my GPA down. I’m hoping that my experience will help out, but who knows. I hope you were able to get your last LoR in, wishing you lots of luck. Though I know it’s very early I do hope we hear back soon.

Hi all! Thank you to @20MSW21 for starting this thread. I applied to SJSU's MSW Fall 2021 (2-year, full-time) program. I submitted my application towards the end of November and am still also anxiously waiting to hear back - still have my status showing as "Referred to Grad Dept." Lots of luck everyone!! ?

@GemGirlThis wait is most definitely difficult. My application also says "referred to grad dept". This is my first time applying to grad school and I'm not sure what the timeline is for decisions. I hope we hear back soon, and good luck I hope you hear good news soon.

It is so hard! It's my first time applying to grad school too. As far as I understand, the only information we have so far on when to expect an admission decisions is between "December 1 to as late as May 31." Yes, I hope that we hear soon too. Thank you so much, I hope that you do as well!! ?

Same here! I applied to the Hybrid Online program, though.  Still says "referred to grad dept."  Good luck to everyone!

Hi fellow applicants, check your emails. SJSU sent out an email with updates on admissions as well as a request to complete a form stating your continued interest in their program. Good luck!

I got an acceptance email today around 1:30. Check your portal to make sure your application status changed to "Accepted." At that point you should anticipate an email at anytime.

I applied for the advanced-standing option, would it be safe to say if I haven't been contacted for an interview and my app status still says "referred to grad dept", that I probably didn't get in?

I am unsure. I did not apply for the advanced standing and do not know the difference between the two processes. I would contact admissions if you haven't already. I would not rush to assumptions.

I’m in the same boat as well with my GPA! I’m hoping my work experience in the social services field will make up for it but I’m still nervous. I applied for the hybrid program and haven’t heard anything yet.

I applied to the advanced standing option and got an email today stating my application was rejected, but they did offer me admission to the two year program. I think I am going to go for it!

This has been an agonizing wait to say the least. Commuting or moving was not an option for me so this was my only shot. Today I finally received an email from SJSU with an acceptance! I know many folks are still waiting and I wish you all good luck!

After nearly 7,000 refreshes to my inbox and 5,000 logins to the SJSU site, I finally received an e-mail containing my acceptance into the 2-year program! Excited beyond words! I look forward to meeting, y’all!!

My GPA was some points off from a 4.0,  but my direct experience definitely “made up” for it.

I applied to the advanced standing and have heard nothing outside the email wanting a statement that I'm still interested. I was accepted to an out of state school who wanted a response by 4/1. I asked for an extension but it is sort of disappointing that SJSU, the school that has had my materials the longest, is taking the longest to send out their decisions!
