I echo @45ter's thoughts here, the visit days are upon us, so do we still have hope? It seems a batch of rejections went out on 1st March. So is no news good news, or we should give up all hope...

@SigFyg after seeing the "Early March" part on the portal I did joke to myself that 14 is the max that can still technically qualify as "early". Didn't think it would actually turn out to be true!!

I really wish I knew the verdict either way so that I could move on...

From what I observed on Quora and GradCafe, seems that no one who put AI/ML as first preference get an offer yet? I imagine they received tons of ML applications, thus still processing them.

Also, does MIT only have 1 visit day? It seems to me that EECS includes various departments - a lot of students. Is it possible that there will be another session, maybe after 14 March? Note that the visit website is last updated on the 8th of February, so there is a possibility that they might move it further as well.

Ok so I reached out to my potential advisors and they told me I didn't get in.

Hey SigFyg,  sorry to hear that. do you know if they accept candidates after the visit days?

I mailed one of the department admin asking for an update on the status of the application and this is the reply I got yesterday. I am not sure what to make of it but it is any day better than no communication at all.

@KalS, I received the exact same thing but I asked a different question thus I believe that this answer is somewhat automatic.

Does MIT EECS release decisions on weekends? if not, then today and tomorrow are the only two days remaining for them to release the remaining decisions by their stated deadline. But then again, MIT has delayed its responses quite a bit this year, what's to say they can't do it again. I just hope they release their decisions sooner than later, because the anxiety is killing me.

Has anyone received offers from Systems/Arch?

At this point I'm not sure what to think. People who have not been accepted or rejected, should we assume that it is a rejection or waitlisting? For example the people who posted that they have been waitlisted, have they received explicit emails stating that they have been waitlisted?

I've got the reply from my poi that I am on the waitlist, but still did not get anything official regarding to that. Is anyone in the same case?

I did not receive any news since submitting the application

Same here, POI emailed me and indicated I was on a waitlist. No info from the department via email or portal.

No interview, but we had fairly regular communication as he agreed to assist in a fellowship application.

Is there still a chance to get fellowship even on the waitlist? BTW can I know your research area?

It was an external fellowship with the DoE that required a "research advisor" to sign off an a course plan, so not through MIT directly.  My research area is Quantum Information/Computing. Someone also just posted that their POI said acceptances are closed so who knows...

Did your POI tell you when the final result for waitlist will be out? I guess at least should be before April 15?

All he mentioned was that he "did not have access to the waitlist." No mention of dates.
