I received this email yesterday from Villanova's Ph.D.:
"We have now completed phase one of this year’s admissions cycle and I am pleased to inform you that you are among this year’s semi-finalists for admission with funding. Congratulations!"

Has anyone here been through the interview process at VU? Also, I am unsure if this means I am interviewing for the sake of funding and could receive an offer regardless of the funding package (I have gathered that they admit students without funding).

Anyone with experience/knowledge of Villanova, I would appreciate your insight. Thanks

I spent some time at Villanova in their theology department, glad to answer whatever questions you might have. They admit four (funded) spots but I've been told that interview slots can be as high as 2-3x that. Most of the students are self-funded - a lot of trust fund babies and military vets using their GI Bill to fund their PhD.
