Any word on this one? Emailed them around March 31st and they said ASAP. The wait is brutal.

I got the notification that I was accepted as a alternate candidate on April 14, 2021. 

I want to know anything about alternate candidate for the Fellowship. Have you ever seen any case that alternate candidate was accepted later?

Hi Evergreen, 

This is my first year even being exposed to the fellowship, so I'm not sure.

But my email said, "If you decide not to take this fellowship, please let us know as soon as possible." So it sounds like they urgently want to offer it to the alternates.

It seems like that you won the fellowship and congratulations! Japan Foundation said that they will let me know the final result by August 31, 2021 and it is so painful for me to wait another 4 months... Hopefully, they notify me as soon as the a principal grantee decline the fellowship.
