Gwarth94 Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 I don't think I saw a thread for this and figured it wouldn't a bad idea to start my own - anyone have a sense of when we can expect to hear back from the DDRA folks? I got the sense that since we received requests to confirm our continued interest in the award in early July, we'd be hearing relatively soon (maybe in the next couple of weeks?).
kochan Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 My campus rep told us we could find out anytime between June and September, but that's about all I know! I am in Japan studies and one point of concern for me is that she said Japan may not be accepting any applicants this year. They still wanted Japan folks to apply, though, because nothing had been decided yet. No news is good new on that front, but wonder if there are other countries considering the same thing.
Gwarth94 Posted August 2, 2021 Author Posted August 2, 2021 I hope Japan takes applicants! Or at the very least that those of us who applied to countries with escalating outbreaks can delay our fellowship until next year. I applied for Taiwan, Japan, and India, so I suspect I'm in a pretty similar position to you in that regard!
tenguru Posted August 26, 2021 Posted August 26, 2021 Hi all, I'm also waiting with baited breath to hear from the Fulbright-Hays in order to start my research in Japan. First, let me share some good news. Although it was the IIE rather than the DDRA, I have two colleagues who were just awarded Fulbrights to Japan. I know these orgs (IIE and DDRA) are difference, but hopefully they are using similar logic. Of course, we are still dealing with restricted entry to Japan, but I know some researchers who are entering (Mext and one Fulbrighter). So, there is some hope. Best regards.

I contacted my university's Fulbright coordinator yesterday, and she mentioned that there was no word from the DDRA folks. If past years have been any indicator, I think there is likely a good chance we may hear sometime this coming week, especially since the intent form was sent out so early!
UnderGround65 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I was informed that decisions were "hopefully" going to be sent out "soon".. cryptic as always ?
tenguru Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Results are in. I was notified by our grant point person that everyone from my institution won. Email just came in. Good luck to everyone.
kochan Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Got word this morning from my point person that I received a Fulbright-Hays, as well. Good luck to all!
