That is good to hear! I contacted my university's Fulbright coordinator yesterday, and she mentioned that there was no word from the DDRA folks. If past years have been any indicator, I think there is likely a good chance we may hear sometime this coming week, especially since the intent form was sent out so early!

I hope Japan takes applicants! Or at the very least that those of us who applied to countries with escalating outbreaks can delay our fellowship until next year. I applied for Taiwan, Japan, and India, so I suspect I'm in a pretty similar position to you in that regard!

I don't think I saw a thread for this and figured it wouldn't a bad idea to start my own - anyone have a sense of when we can expect to hear back from the DDRA folks? I got the sense that since we received requests to confirm our continued interest in the award in early July, we'd be hearing relatively soon (maybe in the next couple of weeks?).

Alternate for the Fellowship. Pleasantly surprised actually - my research was going to be in mainland China, so I thought if anything that would mean I was bound to be rejected, considering the current restrictions in place. Does anyone know how likely getting off of the alternate list is?

For what it is worth, it seems from past years that notifications do go out in a somewhat staggered manner - some people receive the rejections before, others receive acceptances thirty minutes afterwards etc.

I believe the automated email they sent us after we finished the application said we would hear back at the end of April, no? We may not hear back for a couple weeks in that case.
