bme2011 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Hi, I took my GRE this month. I obtained a quant. score of 700 and verbal 650, thus a total of 1350. I wish to apply for a doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Fall 2011. I have already completed my masters in biomedical engg. this year and have a good GPA. I was wondering whether the quant. score is too less to apply for an engg. PhD. How much importance do colleges give to individual section scores? Do i apply with this score or should i consider a re-test? Thank you for your help.

Well, I am not from engineering but from what I have read about GRE so far (and I've read a lot ) I would say that your score is quite good. Don't worry and write your SOPs Good luck!
scyrus Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 It depends on which schools you're looking at, but in general 700Q is a low score for engineering. I would suggest retaking the test because you will be below the cutoff score for many good engineering schools with that score. That said, other parts of your application are more important, so if you happen to have exceptional research experience schools will be more likely to forgive a low gre score.
