serenity5x5 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I've recently made the decision to apply to grad school, but have now just learned that undergrad research is essential to getting into a top-tier program. I haven't done any research at all pertaining to my field, only two poster publications presented at a professional conference and some design projects. Would it still be beneficial if I tackled a research project during the fall of my senior year, or is it too late?
tskinner Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 There's no way doing research could hurt you, so why would you not? Sure you may not have a finished product or results to talk about, but you can still say in your SOP something along the lines of: As I conduct research on BUZZWORD A and BUZZWORD B, I find that the questions of blah-blah-blah interest me most and would be a topic I would like to continue to research at University of My Future Grad School.
