mg86 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Hi all, I am totally panicking as I need to write a CV. Besides the fact that I feel I have no real achievements to put on it, I am unsure of how to list my undergraduate schools. It goes like this... 1 - Fall 2005 - Fall 2006 private college (no degree) Spring 2007 - semester off 2 - Fall 2007 - Summer 2008 - community college #1 (AA), also took online course from community college #2 to be applied to eventual BA 3 - Fall 2009 - online classes at community college #3 to go towards BA 4 - Spring 2009 - Spring 2011 - University ( BA degree) I also spent one summer on an archaeological dig. This all happened because I decided to change my major after my time at the private college. What is the best way to list this? Do I have to send transcripts from every single school, even if I only took one class? My transcripts at my university technically include all schools. On my resume, I listed only degree granting institutions (BA, AA) and the archaeological project. Thanks!
joro Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Yes, you need to send transcripts from every single school even if you only took one class. I took one class at a community college and still had to send a transcript for that.

Yes, in principle you have to submit a transcript from every school you attended, even if it was only for one class. Some (but not all!) schools will allow you to not submit transcripts for classes from other schools provided that they appear on the transcript from your degree-school. You need to either ask at each school you're going to apply to or play it safe and send everything everywhere. You don't want your application to be considered incomplete and discarded because you didn't send a transcript for a single class you took at a community college.
mg86 Posted September 5, 2010 Author Posted September 5, 2010 Gotcha.. well, this makes things more complicated but it is feasible. So on my CV would it be ok to just list degree granting institutions? For instance, where I got my AA, my BA.

For instance, where I got my AA, my BA. I'm in the same boat. I have attended 3 universities, but I've only gotten 2 degrees. So, I am not sure if I should only list on my CV the ones from which I got a degree, or if the one I also attended but from which I did not get a degree should go on there too. Anyone?

I'm the same - two colleges for my undergrad (I transferred), and one for my master's. I'm planning on doing what I've always done on my resume - just listing the degree granting institutions. On my transcript from the BA-granting college, they list credits from the first college. Since I'll also be sending in a transcript from the first college, there should be no confusion. Though I can't say on authority, I would venture the opinion that this is a relatively minor issue. As long as you send in each transcript, no school would penalize you for not listing each institution on your C.V., which I gather is more of a platform for listing your other accomplishments.
