citation style(s) in the earth sciences

Hi all,

Which bibliographic format is the default in the geosciences? I've seen all sorts of things in different journals, but I formatted my NSF GRFP citations in ACS style, with which I'm most familiar. Does it matter which style is used?

While articles don't really cite the exactly same way, most I come across seem to use a style very similar to ACS. I think you should be fine, as long as you're consistent. Good luck!
