sputnik Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I think the reason I'm so worried about Ph.D. apps is only because it stops me from freaking out about the fact that I haven't started my thesis yet. Anyone else about to give it a whirl? I am having major commitment issues. I need to just pick a topic and go with it.
StrangeLight Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 holy eff. i'm on the third draft of my thesis and thought i was behind.
Grimm101 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Don't beat yourself up over it. There might be a reason that you're avoiding it. Sometimes, we don't realize why we do what we do. Before I started writing my thesis, I wanted to run away. Why??? Because I was afraid of going through the defense portion. Nothing worse than critique...even if it's meant to help you. When I sat down and actually worked through my chapter outlines and lit review, I knew it was manageable. I'm still nervous about the defense! Just remember that this is a necessary step that you have to take in order to move on to a PhD. You can do it! psycholinguist 1
goldielocks Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I'm still a first-year MA, but I've started thesis research already (thank goodness). Working on reading widely and narrowing it down... and reading... and narrowing it down... and reading... and narrowing it down...
