  1. Well, I've made my final decision and U of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign, it is!
  2. From what I've read on forums, etc, it is a "ok" program. If you're concerned about how San Jose measures up to other programs, check here: http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-library-information-science-programs/library-information-science-rankings
  3. Congrats on your admission and acceptance of the program. I am leaning toward UW, but then again UIUC is calling my name. Both programs are very good and I am utterly confused. However, the more personable nature of UW might be the winning point for me. I'll give it another week and make my final decision then.
  4. I spoke with someone at Washington yesterday and they said that scholarship/departmental aid letters go out next week. I'm wondering if the mid April date is in regards to student loans. Also, I asked about transferring from online to residential. She said this was highly unheard of, however we can take residential courses once our "tier" opens up, which can be difficult as they tend to fill up quickly. I don't think it is unheard of to accept two programs and rescind one of the offers at a later date. Logorrhea24, I am also waiting to make my decision between UW and Urbana-Champaign. I haven't heard a peep from Urbana other than a few acceptance e-mails. Have you?
  5. Thanks for the information. That is great to know! Still, I wonder if it is far more likely for residential students to receive funding. It seems that the online cohort would be larger and therefore funding becomes highly competitive. I suppose these questions should be posed to the department... As for not marking "residential only," I did the same thing you did for the same reasons. This is what brings me to the conclusion that the online cohort is quite large. Oh well, I will hang in there and wait another 2-3 weeks for possibly funding offers.
  6. I'm not sure if I understand this completely, but I believe funding does not apply to online students. Schools are not required to fund those programs. I think this is why they encourage you to apply for student loans or scholarships/fellowships from other sources. Also, I don't know if online students are considered for GA positions in most programs (I don't know about UW). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, this is one of the reasons I'm sad about the online acceptance. I should have marked "residential ony!"
  7. Congrats! I was also admitted to the online program, but was hoping for the residential. I'll wait and see how funding opportunities go for the other schools and then make my final decision.
  8. I wish they would hurry up! I had thought about writing them as well.
  9. Unfortunately, no. I was hoping they would respond by now though.
  10. Best of luck to you! I'm hope we both get in.
  11. I did not apply. Did you? I'm hoping the send out decisions next week, but it might be another 3 weeks before we know anything.
  12. Congrats to all! Is anyone else "patiently" awating a decision from UW? I know it typically takes them until late March, but hurry up already! I'd like to make my final decision!
  13. I don't blame you for declining. I have not experienced anything like that during the application process, but I can only imagine the stress that this caused. A simple e-mail reassuring you that they had indeed received your transcript would have been nice and would take, I don't know, 1-2 minutes to send!
  14. I'm strongly leaning towards Illinois, but to be honest, there are three other schools I am seriously considering. Like you mentioned, funding is going to be instrumental in the final decision making.
  15. Received an acceptance from University of Pittsburgh today! Hopefully, University of Washington will send out their decisions by mid-March and this whole application season will be over!
  16. Congratulations! I was accepted to UIUC last week. From what I gather, funding decisions are made in April/May. I'm waiting to hear back to from two more schools before I make my decision.
  17. Thanks, Sir Frankie! I'm still waiting to hear from Pitt. My application status says "pending faculty review." I noticed there were a few acceptances already and wondering if I should throw in the towel or perhaps they review applications in batches?
  18. Congrats again! Disregard my previous post on Rutgers, I received an acceptance from them yesterday and an acceptance to UIUC This morning! YES!!! I am so happy!
  19. Congrats everyone! I saw a few results from Rutgers. I applied as well, but my application still shows "no decision." Anyone else seeing this message?
  20. See. This is wonderful! This is what I was getting at in terms of remaining humble. Virmundi, you rock!!! As for the rest of the folks with acceptanes on the forum, I think it's great and I'm happy for all of you!!! However, posting about the same acceptances (to the same schools, mind you) over and over and over again, does come across as gloating.
  21. Um....the first 2-3 times expressing joy over an acceptance is completely understandable. I've done my share of congratulating and supporting on this forum. I might not be a "regular," but I have participated. What I do think is that after a while, the pride turns into a severe case of cockiness. My only beef is that this doesn't drive other forum participants away. Also, be humble. You never know what could happen to your acceptance or funding. Be thankful you have this opportunity. I know I would be extremely joyful, but a bit tight lipped as you never know who checks these forums.
  22. TMP: Just to get things straight. Are you saying that you made it into OSU and UW-M on the connections of your advisors? I guess it really is who you know!!! Lesson learned for next year's batch of applications. Congrats on your admits. Congrats to everyone else who received admits as well! Please remember, there are those of us who haven't received good news or any news at all. So, instead of being preachy, try to be sympathetic. Many of you have done this more than once and I think that the experience of being turned down so many times should create a humbling affect, no? I'm not trying to be disagreeable, but in many instances I feel like some of those with multiple acceptances are literally trying to rub it in. Not cool.
  23. I'm not sure about the interview process with Cornell, but I does seem to fit the institution. I received the same response from another faculty member there. It was a polite, yet mildly canned e-mail response. I don't expect an admit, but I don't think waitlisted folks would find out their status first.
  24. I just received my UW-M rejection too. I knew it was a long shot, but it's the first response I've gotten and of course, it was negative. Great. Happy weekend..........
  25. I think that Cornell waitlist is bogus. Acceptances would go out first.
