Guest rosekowalski Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I'm the UNC reject! I got a letter in the mail .... and I know two other people @ my school (also applying to poli sci) that got rejection letters the same day as me. I guess no news is good news for you at this point. Wow! That's so scary for me! I hate to get my hopes up, you know? My application status on the website is still "Applied". Did you notice if they had changed yours? Sorry to hear y'all didn't get in, though, and thanks so much for the info. How are your other apps doing?
Guest Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I just checked my WUSTL status online...it still says "submitted" if that helps. I dont want to get your hopes up for no reason, but I can't help but think that it's a good sign you didn't get a letter. You must've at "least" made it to the next round. Good Luck.
Guest Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I applied to U of Pennsylvania (poli sci phd duh) and I haven't heard a peep from them, this forum, or any other grad forum. Did anyone else apply there or know of anyone that did?? It's so wierd, I haven't heard anything about their notifications anywhere! It's like the freakin school dropped off the face of the earth! Any news anyone has would be greatly appreciated :-)
Guest rosekowalski Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Well, that's nice! I called this morning, and they said they were still deciding on it, which is good to hear, I guess! :?
Guest Amanda@dal Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Hey there. I heard it through the grapevine that some MA POLI SCI students from Dal have started to be admitted to McGill. A.
Guest Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Anyone heard from WashU, UPENN, and Brown U? Anyone got accepted into Boston U with funding?
Guest Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 So I noticed they changed my status on WashU's website (linked from the graduate admissions page, not the actual online application) from "applied" to "notification sent". Anyone else still waiting? Does anyone's say anything different? I guess I'll be hearing in the next day or two.
Guest cd1 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Has anyone heard from U of T yet? I hope it is not going to work like McGill, i.e., decisions possibly made after April 15th. I am also impatiently waiting for UCLA decisions. I know they already made their first round of offers (second round too?), but it doesn't seem as though they rejected anyone yet.
Guest Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 For anyone who got accepted into WUSTL, are you planning on going? Do you know for sure yet? I'm on the waitlist, and I'm curious what my chances might be.
Guest Amanda@dal Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 I contacted U of T and they said that people should start hearing things in late March and throughout the month of April....
Guest Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 For those of you that heard from Pennsylvania by calling/e-mailing, what did you say? I think I want to e-mail them but I don't know how to ask w/o being pushy? grr
Guest tiki Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I'm waiting on Chicago/ U of Maryland/WUSTL.... Don't know what's up with these school?? Is there still a chance of getting in any of the three?? I really want to just go ahead and say yes to the other schools, but I'm holding out for them, my top choices!! UGH
Guest L Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Lee, if you haven't heard from Georgetown by now, you may want to contact them. They sent out funding decisions a couple of weeks ago (they fund so few), though I think they also accept a lot without funding so they may still be deciding that. Anyone planning to visit GW? Any insight into the program?
Guest Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 For those of you that heard from Pennsylvania by calling/e-mailing, what did you say? I think I want to e-mail them but I don't know how to ask w/o being pushy? grr I simply called and asked if the department had made its decisions. It was unpleasant, but it took all of 20 seconds.
Guest Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I emailed them for the decision, and got the reply with rejection.
Guest Upenn Hopeful Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 If any of you UPenns are still reading this forum, which e-mail address did you use to check on your app. status? I decided to bite the bullet and e-mail them almost a WEEK ago and haven't heard anything back. I e-mailed ( poligrad@psci.sas.upenn.edu ) . Did you guys send your e-mail to a different address? This is highly frustrating!
Guest guest Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 upenn hopeful - how about politely emailing the chair of the department? this is what i did for another school and he got back to me right away. one of my professors recommended i do this and it seemed to work.
Guest sasas Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Anyone heard from the NYU politics department?
Guest Nordberg Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 anyone has info regarding the quality of Penn State Poli Sci department? thanks.
Guest mrdanw11 Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Anybody heard anything from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign? I'm really getting impatient. Also, if a school sets a deadline before April 15, do we have any right to demand that they let us wait until April 15? Later, Dan
Guest L again Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 One of the acceptances I received listed that they were a member of a consortium of schools that have agreed to give students until April 15, so I think the answer to your question may depend on whether they are a member of this consortium. Sorry I can't remember the name of it, but if you are still undecided or need more time, you might try emailing them to explain that you are still visiting other schools, waiting for a funding decision, etc. Good luck.
Guest UIUC-Waiter Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Anybody heard anything from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign? I'm really getting impatient. Also, if a school sets a deadline before April 15, do we have any right to demand that they let us wait until April 15? Later, Dan I am also waiting for UIUC, that's my last hope. I emailed the graduate coordinator in late Feb, and she said that the decision might come out in mid-March. But I received nothing from them. By the way, can we check our status online? I log in to my account and see my status is always under review in department. Does that means they are still reviewing our applications or they never update the status? Any idea?
Guest MeggieB Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 anyone has info regarding the quality of Penn State Poli Sci department? thanks. I'm at Penn State right now. What's your area?
