Does anyone know if an interview is a mandatory step for acceptance for GWU? Has anyone been accepted without an interview. I'm not sure if I saw in the thread for the previous round if someone was accepted to GWU without interviewing. I find that several programs don't require an interview.

i got into GWU DrPH in dec and had to do an interview. applied for early acceptance and i believe all early acceptance folks had to do an interview. was super straightforward. not sure if it'll be required for non-early folks.

I interviewed before I was accepted, I believe it's mandatory but I'm not 100% sure.

Thank you both for your responses. It's still early on my end but I'm just nervous. The admissions officer said "interview, if applicable" as if there was an option not to.

Interviewed for GWU in November, and it was mandatory (I believe). As interviews go for DrPH programs, it was standardized and--by far--the least intimidating. The admissions person told me that anyone who meets the essential criteria for the program goes through an interview. I don't know what the criteria are, exactly.

To those who applied to Emory by the Jan 5 priority deadline..admissions notified me that the first round of decisions should be sent out within 4-6 weeks. You should have also received login information to register in their applicant portal to keep track of where your application is - mine currently says "under review". Wishing everyone luck!!

Thank you, that's helpful. I turned mine in over the holidays.

I have an update, I was invited to interview for the UNC DrPH program (Eeeek!) Did anyone else apply to the program? Any tips on interviewing? This is the first school I've heard back from.

I interviewed at Harvard last year, so it's not the same. But my main takeaways: Be sure to know your personal statement backwards and forwards. Be sure to know UNC's program and what it will do for your career--be more specific than the credential. What makes UNC's program special to you? Be prepared to know where you are headed in your career and why it matters to you and your chosen community. Harvard also cared a lot about my core values and how I differentiated leadership from management/why they were both important.  I hope that helps! Very best of luck to you, ChiGirl25!

I interviewed at IU yesterday! I echo the thoughts above but wanted to share a few more 'tricky' ones I got -- In the long run who is responsible for solving global health issues?  --- What is the biggest world change plaguing global public health-- I think they just wanted to hear me speak about PH passionately but putting that here!

I've gotten my first acceptance! Claremont called me on Tuesday and said I've been accepted! Still waiting on Emory, JHU, and GWU.

Congrats on the interview @dogmom34 and the acceptance @lukemartinmsgh!
