This is so kind of you to say! I really appreciate it! May not seem like good news, but I have actually accepted that this cycle may not go the way I planned but I am fortunate that I have the options that I do and people who are willing to support me throughout my journey. I’m waiting for official results so I can go give my recommenders gifts and officially end the cycle! All the best news for you and everyone else in this sub!

You are all so incredible :)

Thanks! I'd like to think it went well. I felt like I was able to elaborate on my topic when they asked and show how I'm really passionate about what I want to study.

Also, they're trying to build out their American studies cohort, so if anyone else applied for that, seems like you might have a better shot.

Just found this thread. I applied to four PhD programs, all Religious Studies: UT Austin (Religions in History), Princeton (Islam subfield), UVA (Islamic Studies), and U Chicago Divinity School (Islamic Studies). I interviewed at Princeton 1/17, UT Austin 1/22, and I have an interview with Chicago scheduled for 1/28. If anyone has any questions about these interviews I'd be more than happy to share more!

I haven't heard a peep from UVA... has anyone else?

I also have not heard anything from UVA! Although I am not sure if they do interviews or not.

For those (like me) who have been waiting to hear something from Emory, the GDR page lists recruitment weekend as happening the weekend of February 7, which means it is likely interviews are already out. According to the website, that also means that we should be getting official application status notifications soon.

You are okay, recruitment weekend is when the candidates who have made the final application cuts are brought in for interviews.

They will likely make their final decisions after the recruitment weekend, so I'm guessing notifications won't go out any earlier than mid-February. Also, I know someone who was not invited to the recruitment weekend but still accepted into the program. They had been wait-listed and then finally accepted closer April, so you never know. Keep hope alive!

I think Yale has already had interviews as well or at least made decisions and cut some people

Really? I heard a rumor that they do not do interviews in Religion, but that could be wrong. Do you know someone who got a rejection or acceptance?

They definitely do interviews, at least in some subfields. I can't speak for all subfields. I had an interview with Yale but have not yet heard anything with regard to results. It has only been a week since the interview.
