Friend on facebook was accepted into UGA's PhD program in English . . . and now I'm freaking out about getting accepted into any program? Anyone in a similar situation?

Is your friend the same person who posted the UGA acceptance on the results page? I've started freaking out as well, because that's one of my schools and I haven't heard a peep...

I don't know if they posted or not on the results page. I'm just aware through their facebook feed. Sorry for not being able to provide more information.

I'm experiencing the same worries over here. I saw on gradcafe that someone received an acceptance letter from UGA the other day. UGA was one of the schools (out of the nine I applied to) that I thought I had a pretty decent chance of getting into, so now I'm really worried that I'm not going to get in anywhere, as most of the schools I applied to are supposed to be more "competitive" than UGA :(

While I did not apply to UGA, so I do not share that worry, the fear of a friend getting in (which I am very happy for) and then myself not getting into anywhere is terrifying. The social interactions and being asked about my process when someone in my group of friends already was accepted . . . uh. Gonna take the wind out of the sails. sad.gif

Oh this process is making me into a nut case. blink.gif

True, but Georgia gets like 300-something applications per year for maybe a dozen spots, probably. That's about as competitive, percentage-wise, as many top-20 programs.

Yes, it's very hard not to think about it ALL the time or to let it affect one's current work, obligations, etc. I'm in so much debt from my Master's (and from those application fees, transcript fees, etc.), the idea of not getting in anywhere makes the pit in my stomach get a little bigger each day.

'Course, it helps to hear from folks like you who are going through the same sort of thing. I do wish you the best of luck as you wait it out!

I am the poster from the results page and I did not update my FaceBook page to show my acceptance at UGA in the PhD program so there must be at least two of us out there at this point. Keep the faith and "Good Luck!" I am sure more acceptances will be rolling out soon.

I know there have been several acceptances posted to the Results board re: UGA PhD, but is anyone else still waiting on them? I haven't heard anything - positive or negative.
