Do some schools allow it and others not, or is always the case that you must have a very special reason in order for a school to even consider granting deferment? Thanks!!!! StarvingStudentYeah Posted April 2, 2008 Share Posted April 2, 2008 I have seen several schools that state up front something like, "deferment of one year is possible, but funding is not guaranteed after deferment and you must notify us by a certain date." In my experience schools in more expensive places like NYC, Boston, SF tend to be more lenient about deferment. I've seen MANY other schools that state upfront that a deferment is not possible - the vast majority I saw said that in fact.
