I just got mine too! Well, I am not upset, after all, I did my undergrad here and perhaps it's for the best to move on to another institution.

Lesson learned: one can never apply to too many schools specially if one is not in a major field with in that department, which is the case here, no graduate students from the Latin American field accepted. However, my sincere congratulations to those accepted!

Just decided to be bold and called Harvard to ask whether they were done. The woman who answered was so nice (for which I was very grateful), and said that they are NOT done making offers. She said letters will go out in March. Whew!

Did you all get official rejections or emails from POIs? By this point I'm assuming that I've been denied entry but I still haven't received a rejection either.

Edit: From Berkeley, sorry.

It seems like all the schools I applied to (or most?) are giving out their decisions in March. I guess I should not panic too much, yet, then.

I got mine from the chair of graduate admissions committee with attached pdf to email. Generic letter no comments on the actual application other than my name.

That was my experience as well. I guess if you haven't heard back from them, then that might be good news. I'm still waiting on UCLA though.

Bless you, bless you. There is hope (however vain).

I was actually told that UC Berkeley weren't accepting anyone from Latin American History by the professor that I contacted around october-november. He was extremely nice and made me save time and money.

Update: Just got my rejection from Berkeley, no surprise there. There's probably someone going down a list sending them out one at a time.

I took a risk and applied as an Americanist as a primary field and L. America as secondary field, since I study the US Southwest but the period I was interested was clearly Northern Mexico. We should have a field of North America rather than American and Latin American history. I guess that's were transnational history makes it's claims.

I'll add my name to the list of Berkeley rejects today. I knew it wasn't a great fit going in since Prof. Levine passed away in 2006. Ah well.

Just out of curiosity... a couple of you said Berkeley wasn't a great fit anyway... why did you apply there, then?

Honestly, I just liked the idea of living in the Bay Area. I spent a summer there once, and I fell in love with the place. Plus, it's Berkeley, which has an excellent History program. Unfortunately, that is not true for my field (modern Middle East).

It is a fair point. For me, there are professors at Berkeley I am interested in working with and I wrote about them in my application. Between my application and my comment about fit, two things happened: They rejected me and I got into another school. So, I think it is natural to re-evaluate the situation and rationalize it a bit. I also think of fit along a spectrum anyways- there are better fits and worse fits and no fits at all. Berkeley was not an ideal fit, but I think I would have been happy there if I was admitted and attended.
