NYU Media, culture and communication PhD

The grad coordinator mentioned that the accepted candidates will be notified via phone by late Feb. Now that it's about time, I'm quite anxious. In the meantime, it would be nice to know the criteria for decisions at NYU. As an international student, i don't know much about the institute except its good reputation (i'm sure many will say that's overrated). So what's more important for NYU - GRE scores or good recos? Also, is it lenient with funding? Would love to hear experiences of any current or former NYU students. Thx!

Hi finalcountdown. I found this post and I wonder if you are now attending the PhD in MCC at Steinhardt. If that is the case, would you give some insider-tips about the application? I already submitted my documents and it is kind of late to ask, bu anyhow I would like to know... thanks you
