I've had so much fun reading and posting within these forums over the last month or so, that I feel some kind of nerdy virtual kinship with all of you. The nice thing about this forum is that it is virtually devoid of TROLLS or complete farking idiots (with of course a margin of error of approximately +/- 3%). Because we all share the common goal of Ph.D.-boundness, it is very nice to not see postings full of your/you're mistakes or countless references to Lady GaGa or Justin Bieber's new haircut.

Anyway, the point is, if you're on Facebook, PM me your handle because I'd like to keep in touch with you all throughout this process!! Yes, all of you.

Cheers and Britney Spears,

Vitaminark

That's a really nice thought, vitaminark! They do say that (non-racialized) communities are forged through fear, pain, and persecution, but kept together by love. Or, in this case, a shared exasperation with pop culture and fondness for grammatical sentence construction.

(I don't have FB or I'd take you up on your offer. I hope lots of people do.)

So true. I have been impressed, inspired, and humbled by the wisdom, thoughtfulness, and humor of everybody here. Seriously.

I don't know if anyone has seen the movie V for Vendetta, but there is a scene where Natalie Portman finds a letter from a dead woman. The letter ends with something along the lines of, "I don't know you, but I love you and you are worth something."

That's how I feel. We are all suffering the same. And I feel for all of you.

I discovered gradcafe after submitting applications.Have been greatly encouraged, enlightened and entertained by the posts.

I am an international student and don't know any other US gradschool applicant - but hey, this is my team...

I have never seen a forum filled with so much congeniality, productive discussion and complete lack of trolls.
