Stanford MS in Electrical Engineering to Stanford MBA

Hi All

I am currently deciding about whether or not to attend the MS in Electrical Engineering program at Stanford. I know this that a certain point in time in my career (2years, 5years, 10 years or maybe more), I will want to pursue an MBA. Do you guys think that completing my Masters from Stanford will actually help me get admitted to the Graduate School of Business at Stanford?

I completed my undergrad from Georgia Tech. My other option for Masters in EE is to go to Georgia Tech itself. Do you think having Stanford instead of Georgia Tech on my resume will actually help me get admitted to a prestigious MBA school?

I think it absolutely will help. You proved that you can handle the rigor of their engineering curriculem and your also an Alumni of their school now. In addition, what i'd recommend is if you take one or two grad MBA courses (which might even be able to satisfy your MSEE degree).

If you can bang off a course or so from the business school I think your chances of acceptance are extremely high. However, Gtech is also an extremely good school and with a Masters degree from their you proved well enough you have the dedication and passion to handle any graduate curriculum.

Hello

I am in a somewhat similar situation, the options being somewhat different. I am targeting MBA admission in future.

I have an admit at Stanford (MS EE) and also a job offer from Booz and Company as a consultant. A strategy consulting work experience would be ideal for an MBA application later. However a Stanford degree also seems like strengthening the profile. In addition, it would give me a chance to take up some courses at GSB as well. I am unable to take a call between these two. Any suggestions?

BTW, is it possible to go into consulting or I-banking (for a relevant job ex prior to MBA) after a masters in Engineering? ff yes, is the entry level same as that of an undergrad?
