So, last week I received an email from the adcom chair at CUNY informing me I had been waitlisted. Since then several people have posted other waitlists as well as acceptances on the results board. This is the first time waitlists have been mentioned for CUNY anthro on gradcafe. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about how their waitlist works (e.g. is it ranked or based on fit with a POI, etc) and if people have gotten in off the waitlist in the past. Thanks.

Congrats on the waitlist offer. Not so sure if that helps but I've also been waitlisted but since I accepted my NYU's offer, I turned down my waitlist offer quickly. Actually both came in at the same time. Wish you'd get in off the waitlist soon!

i don't know how the waitlist will work this year but i do want to say that you'll probably have to fairly patient with CUNY because waiting will be required even for the folks who were offered admission. funding packages and the like get shuffled around and dished in seemingly erratic ways and i would bet that some admits will have to wait for a bit before they hear about funding (whether they will get it or not, especially, but also what type of funding they will be offered because there are different packages that CUNY can offer). So while they wait for their funding (or non-funding) situation to materialize, they may keep everyone on the waitlist waiting because they don't have all the info they may need in order to accept or decline admissions.

i do hope you hear something good soon!

I've heard that this is the way CUNY works, but I love the department. Fingers crossed...

Me too! It's my top choice by far... can't take much more waiting! Good luck to you as well :)
