hejduk Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) I know this is better suited in another forum, probably Applications, but I'm a Mass Comm guy, this is a Comm thread, so why not post here? I've been through many phone interviews before, but tomorrow is my final one and I really need a stellar interview. I've got the normal list of questions, but I'm wondering if anyone has any they'd really recommend. I have no admits up to now, so I really need to kick some a$$ tomorrow. Any suggestions? XOwlfan Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Good luck with the interview! I don't really have much to offer that you probably haven't already considered. I'm sure you have great credentials and experience!! I'd really read through the program offerings and faculty CVs and such so that you can emphasize how your interests align with the current happenings there. I hope it all goes well! I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that you hear some good news!
jmacnomad Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) I agree with the previous poster. Focus on your fit! Other than that, some questions I've used are: Do faculty generally work in collaborative research projects or is it more individualized with occasional collaboration? Do students have the opportunity to work with faculty on projects/papers? Do you see the department expanding into any new research areas in the next few years? In which concentrations/research areas do the bulk of the energy and research go? Are there any upcoming grant-funding projects? Edited March 6, 2011 by jmacnomad
communications13 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Good luck on the interview! My favorite question to ask is about how the cohort of students works, if it's collaborative or more competitive and what kind of academic environment that fosters.
archk Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 i am having an interview tomorrow morning too! do you have any advice for me?
