To emphasize, if you're an international student, buy a good coat, snow shovel and enough bags of salt early on to last for a few months (because local stores may run out of it). This past winter, NJ experienced a lot of snowfall and who knows what next winter will bring.

I'm also curious about who my roommate will be next year. Does anyone know if we can find out before moving in? I wrote to the housing office a few days ago but got no response.

Hi everyone. I'm coming from the UK to do Physics at Princeton. I have a room in the NGC, I'm hoping they will feel bigger than the 10x11 ft the floor plan suggests!

Here's a trick I used to find who my GC roommate was (since housing never did tell who my roommate was):

1) Go to http://search.princeton.edu/search.pl

2) Search for yourself so that you can find the phone number of the GC room that you are assigned in

3) Now search for that phone number to see if anyone else shows up

Not sure if it still works but you can give it a try. Also I did this in August; not sure if new graduate students have been added yet.

Hahaha... that's brilliant. The phone numbers aren't up yet, but will make sure to do this as soon as they are posted ;).

Quick update: the phone numbers are currently available on the directory, but you cannot search using them. I'm considering spidering the directory to try to make a searchable database. If anyone wants me to find their roommate, feel free to PM me and I'll try to see if I can figure it out for you =)
