Candler Oddity - Advice?

Hi,

I just got a hand written thank you for attending Leadership Candler... and I wasn't invited to attend Leadership Candler (The person who wrote this wrote it as if I had met them over the weekend). AND the person who wrote it clearly had looked over my admissions profile - as it pulled specifics from it to make it personal. So my questions go like this:

1. WTF?

2. I got a rejection to Leadership Candler in my email, but maybe this means it was an oversight? Should I call and ask about it or just assume it was a mistake?

Any advice? I assume it was a mistake, but it seems odd.

Ha. They sound a little disorganized, wouldn't you say? If you're on the fence about going to Candler, I'd send an e-mail to the contact who sent you the note and cc' the admissions director. If you really want to go there, only send a clarification e-mail to the note contact. Don't call, it's annoying.

It sounds like they are disorganized but they've been doing things so far to a T -- so this has me thrown for a loop. I am wondering if this happened to anyone else who didn't get invited to Leadership Candler? Maybe the person ended up with a stack of thank-yous and had the wrong list of people to send them to. And the thing is, it wasn't from an admissions person -- it was from someone else who clearly knows where I currently go to school, what I study, and what I want to study at Candler-- all of which would be available if you were looking at an admissions profile. So odd! I feel like I need to contact them -- if I don't find out about this then I'll go nutterbutters!

I hope that Candler is offering you funding! I turned down the offer of admission and Leadership Candler since Boston U. is a much better fit for me. Thus, there's at least ONE full ride still available!!! I hope you get it! let us know!

Resolved. I called and it turns out my name and admissions information was available to this person because we had common research interests. Said person assumed we met, but it turns out I was just on a list of prospies to "keep in mind" or something! Its nice to be wanted I guess! But give me monies!

So does this mean they will offer you some sort of spot afterall? Even if not funded, thats got to be some kind of break. Good luck, and let us know. You've got a fucked up issue here, haha.
