Ideal Impulse Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I've noticed in the results forum, people will often post information like "Received funding for $15,000," or "No funding at this time." I gotten two acceptances notices that are just straight up acceptance notices: no mention of money. I applied for fellowships, RAships, etc in addition to just my application. My field is Speech Language Pathology. Does this mean I haven't gotten any financial support? Or is there another time that they will tell me?
jmacnomad Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Not necessarily. I would contact the programs and ask if you are being considered for financial aid in the form of assistanceships. If the answer is yes, then you can ask them when they expect to make financial aid decisions.
FutureSLP Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I contacted a couple of my SLP programs with this question, and they both replied that funding decisions for assistantships will be determined in the next 2-3 weeks. Some schools offer it with their admissions decision, but others wait to see who their incoming class will be before offering assistantships. It doesn't hurt to contact the program and ask.
robot_hamster Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 My program includes offers of funding along with the acceptance. So if you don't see any mention of $$$ then that means they aren't offering it to you. Sort of annoying actually. I have heard that other places are different and that funding offers are sent out after the acceptance letters.
