I want to avoid sounding like an ad, but I thought I'd share some good news (for once?). The GRE is having a sale! It's 50% off if you sign up to take the test between Aug 1st and Sept 31st. You will be given an alternative test, equipped with an on screen calculator, the option of skipping questions and changing previous answers. I really don't see how this is not appealing, so yes...

The catch is that your results come mid-November. BUT who cares? You see your scores when you finish the test, and if you don't like them, you can rewrite it before your official scores are mailed to you.

This is their attempt to get plenty of people to take the GRE right after its big change, so that they (and grad schools) can have enough data to get used to it/iron out the bugs/what have you. So I'm pretty sure there's no catch!

Banking your admissions on a new test sounds like a pretty big catch to me!
