Bones_gal85 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I was just wondering what the general consensus among everyone was regarding a few physical/forensic anthro programs I'm deciding among to attend: LSU, Binghamton, and BU. I know my own views about their various pros and cons but I'd like to hear from other people in the field. I currently hold a BA and am wanting to get an MA then PhD.

If I was going fully full on forensic anthropology in the criminal justice system or Army Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii (yes!), I would consider UT Knoxville or maybe Mercyhurst. The UK has some great MS programs as well. I know I am unintentionally leaving out other schools I simply don't know about that specialize in FA, but I know those schools house multiple forensic specialists. Bioosteology is another matter altogether. Edited April 9, 2011 by mutualist007

If these are schools you have already been accepted to, I'd go for Binghamton or BU. I've heard good things about BU generally, and I've heard of Binghamton, but have never heard of the LSU program... If you are planning to apply in the future, then I would apply to a PhD program directly, unless you have no experience in human osteology or bioarchaeology. If you have no experience, you might want to apply to the masters programs at NYU (Skeletal Biology) or Mercyhurst masters.
