JP-89-
http://us.fulbrightonline.org/program_country.html?id=60 From the website it says that the program starts sometime in early-July. I'm guessing the packet we'll be getting will tell us all the nitty gritty details. I'd like to fly there a couple weeks before the program actually starts to visit a few of my old classmates from the school I studied at in China if they'll still reimburse me for the tickets. Anyone else planning on applying for the critical language scholarship over winter break?

rkddbfl
And also, my friend who just came back from fulbright said that last year she did that and they paid for everything so I think they would!! I heard that you tell them where you want your flight from and they buy you the ticket but she called them and talked to them and got the whole ticket paid for! http://us.fulbrighto...ntry.html?id=60 From the website it says that the program starts sometime in early-July. JP-89-
Hey everyone! I've been looking around for information about where we'll be having our orientation and I've come across a few blogs from people who are currently on the Fulbright program that I wanted to share with everyone: http://skunfamiliarterritoryeta.blogspot.com/2010/07/jungwon-university.html http://jimgoestokorea.wordpress.com/page/4/ It seems like the answer to my question is Jungwon University, or at least last year it was. http://eng.jwu.ac.kr/
JP-89-
So after a little more snooping I can say with some degree of certainty that we'll be at Jungwon University in Goesan. Apparently a portion of our six-week orientation involves us learning some TEFL skills at Camp Fulbright, where Fulbright ETFs from the finishing year come and teach Korea students while we observe. Camp Fulbright 2011 is scheduled for July 17-30 at Jungwon University, so I'm pretty certain that's where we'll be. http://webcache.goog...a.or.kr/xe/camp I'm sure if I just waited a few weeks for our info packet to arrive in the mail I'd find this all out then, but I can't help it! eklatrojan
ME TOO! Does that mean that orientation starts in mid July??? O.o When do we get all the info on these things? Past years have started between July 3rd and 7th.....ish. We fly right to Korea for a six week orientation instead of going to DC like everyone else......but who knows what the EXACT start date is until we get those packets. It's for sure before 17th if we star helping teach then.
tweety11226
Hmmm that will be cool to leave mid-July so I can hang out with m fam for the 4th of July. I still need to get a physical done . I called Rachel since Jonathan was not in his office and she told me it's not exactly 3 weeks but around 3 weeks I can't wait for my package and this feels so surreal I didn't even have a back-up plan neither. I def. feel so bless Thans for the info about orientation MY FELLOW ETAers (not a word, lol)

eklatrojan
which means that we just have to have an epic 4th of july celebration in korea! i haven't gotten my medical clearance either, because i was really sick last week. it's good to know that the deadline is kinda soft. JP-89-
I hadn't even realized I'd be missing the 4th of July for the second year in a row...last year I was still in China at that time. For those who haven't mailed their medical forms yet, you might wants to hold off for now. The two grant acceptance forms need to go to the same place at the medical forms, so you could just mail them all out at once as soon as your packet comes from Korea. LaPelirojita
Hi, I'm actually an alternate for the Korean ETA program, and I'm just hoping that you guys could update me if you know of any other alternates or people who are considering turning down their award. I have a back-up plan, but I really had my heart set on teaching in Korea, and with so many amazing candidates applying to grad schools and other grants, it doesn't seem totally unlikely that an alternate or two will be called up to take someone else's spot. On the main Fulbright forum I'm the only listed ETA alternate for Korea, which surprised me. Congrats to all you confirmed applicants; I'm sure you'll have an incredible time.
