I need a little advice here:

I took the GRE back in July. At the time of the testing, I listed four schools that I wanted my scores sent to.

A couple of days ago, I received an e-mail from one of the schools I had requested my scores sent to letting me know what they still needed from my application (btw, that was a very nice gesture by that school and it won them some kudos points). on their list of missing items was my GRE scores.

I'm not sure if it was an misfiling at the school or if ETS screwed up my order, but to rectify the issue should I:

a) Contact the school and see if the scores were just misplaced

B) Contact ETS and see if they will resend the scores for free (try to convince them it was their fault)

c) Bite the bullet and have another set of scores sent

d) Both options a and b

e) Other

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Well, here's what I'd do. First, I'd kick the wall, maybe rattle off a few punches on a tree outside. Then I'd phone ETS and -- with a voice straining for composure -- DEMAND they send GRE scores, and that they be there by next week. If they say they have indeed been sent, call them dirty, lying, devils. At that point, you should qualify your demand by telling them you want your scores there next week free of charge. This way you are leveraging your situation. They will give in....and if they don't.......PM me. 8)

As is becoming common, I disagree with Ferraro. I'd start with the school. Call them up, say when you took the test, and see if they'll look again. The scores may have been misplaced. Only after you've done that should you call ETS. They aren't going to believe you so you might as well try the university first.

totally agree with Rising Star. I had the same experience when I submitted scores last year (though in my case, it was probably the university's fault--they said they never received scores, but I had sent them quite early and all of the other schools had received them). I called the school, got nowhere, called ETS, and then had to bite the bullet and pay their exorbitant fees to have the scores re-sent. Annoying, but then the whole application process is a little annoying I suppose. This is the most logical approach, and maybe you'll luck out and the school did misplace them (or didnt check the digital record ETS sends)

I have a couple GRE related questions...

1. Typically you take the GRE first then submit the application or is it the other way around?

(I really won't know which schools to apply to until I get that peice of information.)

2. What does it cost to have your scores sent to each school?

Thanks!

1. You can do either or. Though many people take the exam early or before submitting the application so they will have time to retake it if the bomb it the first time. The choice is yours.

2. You can designate 4 schools to receive your scores for free before taking th exam. Afterwards it costs $20 per school to send further results.

Update: The school got back to me over the weekend and told me they have my GRE scores.
