Angelman Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Hi, all )) Which books do u think are the best for preparation for the Quant part of the GRE Revised computer based test? Waiting for any opinion(s) or suggestion(s) //
lyonessrampant Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I'd be careful relying too heavily on a lot of the books out there (Kaplan, Princeton, etc.) since the old GRE emphasized geometry A LOT, and I've heard the new one has more trig (I think?). Anyway, I'd still use the old books, but try to find out more about the new material and do some work on those areas too.
TheLT Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I just bought the GRE prep Math portion (for the new GRE) for the Princeton review and it has been extremely helpful. I highly recommend Princeton Review
lechat Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I'm studying for the same thing and to me, it looks like princeton and kaplan has the best so far. Beware though, a lot of people are complaining about math errors in the PR one.
kcola Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 "and I've heard the new one has more trig (I think?). A" there is no trig on GRE, from ETS says.
Mal83 Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I used the Kaplan general review book plus the quantitative workbook for extra practice, the general review book wasn't enough for me as I graduated from high school back in 2001 and therefore felt like I had to relearn 4 years of math all over again. I just went to Borders and looked through all the books, Kaplan just seemed more appealing.

ETS says the revised GRE will actually have less geometry and more emphasis on algebra and statistics, not trig though. For the old GRE, I used kaplan and their math questions were pretty similar to the ETS ones I took. I would try out math questions from both Kaplan and Princeton, just in case one might have errors that the other could make up for.
