neuropsych76
So I've decided to apply for a 1st year graduate fellowship application in my area. Basically, I send in a research proposal for my 1st year project. I need the proposal, a CV , and one LOR. The LOR can be from my graduate advisor or undergrad advisor. I've only met my graduate advisor once but have corresponded a decent amount through email discussing project ideas. I feel like having a graduate advisor write me a letter might have more weight compared to an undergrad advisor even though the undergrad advisors know me much better. But, I'm not sure... What do you guys think? Does a LOR for a graduate fellowship application contain more weight if its from the actual graduate advisor? Or does it not matter who its from, as long as the letter writer writes a good letter. thank you!
lewin
In my opinion a good letter has to be detailed in addition to being positive, and if your graduate advisor is going to be brief or vague (by necessity, because you two don't know each other well yet) then a letter from undergrad is better.
