Strangefox Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Definitely not a tragedy, but an inconvenience for sure. Will you be able to renew it next year from the US or will you have to return home to do so? I could stay in the US with an expired visa as long as I am a graduate student and there is no need to return and renew it. But the thing is I want to come home next summer so I will to have to deal with this hassle again. And pay extra $140 At least I won't have to pay SEVIS anymore. I don't think I will have any problems renewing visa. I am planning to be a good student, - if I don't they can take my funding away. So if I remain in a good academic standing (which I will) and don't commit any crimes (which I won't), renewing visa will be a piece of cake. Mmmmm.... a piece of cake! [That's what Homer Simpson would add ]
sunilsajja Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Hi everyone, I have an expired F1 visa. I attended visa interview on my OPT at chennai consulate on 30th June 2011. I got pink form. I submitted all the required documents still waiting for the response. Can anyone suggest me how long it will take? Thanks, Sunil

Bukharan Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 So as I've thought they gave me F-1 for one year only. Could be better... but certainly not a tragedy Similar situation. I got a 2-year visa only. (The maximum I could get considering my citizenship... EU, mind you.) The length of the visa, from what I understand, depends on reciprocal agreements between the USA and one's country. That sucks. However, hopefully, this does not change anything. I plan to visit my parents every summer anyway, and once in a while I would have to reapply for a visa then. Good to luck everyone who is still waiting for their visas.
