julianarx Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Will there be a new MacBook Pro coming out prior to the end of this year? Also, when is Lion coming out? I just don't want to shell out the money on a new computer unless it's the latest model, platform, etc. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Agradatudent Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 The rumor is that there will be some sort of improvement when Lion comes out.. which is rumored to be this year. Apple does some upgrade on their products almost every year around July. Just look for when their keynote will be.

New iMacs and MBPs probably won't come out until early next year... Most of apples products are on a year-ish release cycle, with the different models staggered so they don't come out all at once. All the tech blogs (Engadget, Gizmodo, etc) are stating that Lion will be out soon (only available through App Store), and the upgraded Macbook Airs are on the way. MB and MBP upgrades I believe were already made earlier this year, and therefore, not another refresh until next year.

Yes, MBP upgraded to the i5 processor at the very end of February (I bought one about two days after they were released, hah). Personally, I think that waiting for the next processor upgrade might be even wiser than waiting on just the OS upgrade to Lion. I hadn't heard those rumors about MBs. Wow. That's currently what they heavily market to college freshmen, etc. I wonder what will take its place, the Air?
natsteel Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I got an email from Apple today saying that Lion will be out this month. As for when to expect new MBPs... Since 2008, they've come out around every 10 months (6/09, 4/10, 2/11) so I would expect another around the end of the year.
